Workshop for Parents:
When and how to read to your child

In this workshop, parents learn about selecting books and reading with their young children who have Down syndrome. Topics will include:

  • how to select appropriate stories for a young child with Down Syndrome;
  • which books are appropriate for what ages;
  • how to assess the right book for your own child's needs;
  • how to adapt books for use with children with motor and cognitive challenges;
  • how to adapt your own reading style to help build your child's language skills.

Cost: This workshop is sponsored by the Extraordinary Learning Foundation. Donations to this nonprofit foundation are welcomed but not required to attend the Workshop (suggested donation: $10). Refreshments will be provided.
